The chapter opens with a flashback to the previous chapter, in which we learn that the spirit of the dead woman, the yin-yang water spirit, is in the territory of the dragon, and that the master of the spirit, the demon king, is there. The master tells the young ferret that he and his uncle are planning to go to the cave to eat and drink before setting out for the mainland. The young ferret wonders where his cave is, and the master tells him that they're now in dragon territory. He tells the little boy to be happy, because he's his uncle. The little boy says that he doesn't care if the master is his uncle, as long as he eats and drinks well. The old man tells him to go ahead and kill the flesh-eating demons, because they stink. He also tells the boy to stay away from the demon body, because the master will be nervous if he hears the name "lord li zhu" . He says he protected the body for two hundred years, and now it's ready to be returned to the rightful owner. The boy wonders why he sent such a message, and why he didn't tell the master about what was going on in the mortal world. The man says he had known nothing about the mortal realm, and sent the message because he was tired of living in the demon world. Now, he says, he can hear the voice of the tree spirit, which is also blocking the way for the two of them. He wants to warn the boy that something is wrong with the cave, and he asks the boy if he really wants to risk it.
