The next morning, the demon cub tells his master that he's feeling better, but that his injuries are still more severe than they were the night before. He thanks his master for being kind to him, and wishes him luck in the future. The demon tells him that they just saw a black spirit beast, and that they chased it around the whole way. The cub says that the beast is very shy and won't bite him if he tries to touch it, so they should all get out of the way and let him pick it up. He says that if he ever gets his hands on the beast, he'll eat it right up, and he says that it's better for him to stay in the room until he gets better, because once the array is activated, he will be the only one out of there. He wants to know why they're stopping him from doing what he has to do. The road they've chosen isn't going to lead them to a grave, he says, and if they destroy the altar, they'll die with it. He's not going to let them kill him, he tells them, because without him there's nothing to live for. He asks if they still have any fear of killing someone, and they say that they don't. He tells them that he can't kill someone after all, and says that they should let him go, because he has a better idea.
