This chapter ends with a soliloquy by the demon master, who tells the audience that he will never dream of the monster again. He says that the smell of the porridge reminds him of his master, and that if he does not wake up later, he can have it. He tells his master that he cannot face him, and asks him if he is hungry. The demon master tells him that it is time for him to come back to the realm of the dead. He asks if the man is afraid to face him and if he wants a spanking. The man says that he was hiding from him and that he is a "boorish heathen" and a "cold heathen." He tells the man that he has been teasing him all this time and that it was all his fault. If the man wants to take revenge on him, he has every right to do so.
