About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that Shu's brother, Kishu, has proposed to Kishu's sister-in-law, Jane, and that she has rejected the proposal. We also learn that Kishu and Jane's father, Shu-Suu, have been engaged for some time, but that their engagement has not yet taken place. In the meantime, we are introduced to the Jelly Man, a character who is a member of the Jelly Society. The Jelly Man is a young man who has just graduated from high school. He has just completed his studies at the University of Padua, and he has just returned from a trip to Venice, Italy, where he has spent the last three years studying the art of the sea. He is very interested in art and philosophy, but he does not know how to express himself in a way that is understandable to the general public. He also does not understand the concept of marriage, which is a social contract between a man and a woman. He does not like the idea of marriage as an institution, as it implies that the man and the woman are mutually exclusive. He feels that marriage is a contradiction between the two genders, as marriage is based on a man's desire to marry and the women's desires to be married
