We're introduced to a new character in this short scene. It's Hiroyuki, and he's in the middle of a conversation with Hiroyuki's wife, who's just arrived from a shopping trip. Hiroyuki tells his wife that he doesn't have much time for a play, so he'll just hang out with the other guests at the hotel. He also tells her that he has something to discuss with her: he wants to buy a diamond ring for his fiancee, and Hiroyuki wants to help her pick the right one. He tells her to leave a day early on her calendar so that he can test her ring size without having to catch her. She's all, "Sure, I'll test my ring size on my calendar, but first I want to know if you're a big rock." Hiroyuki says, "Yes, I am." He then tells her how to gauge her ring's size without her knowing it. She runs off, leaving Hiroyuki to wonder if she's the first guest to leave. He asks if she was only the first one to leave, and she replies, "No, she was our first guest." She then tells him that she wants to borrow a pair of kimonos from him to use in a photo shoot, but she can't think of a way to use them during the shoot because they're all handmade and one-of-a-kind. She tells him to panic, but he reassures her, saying that they'll be back soon, and that the orders for the kimonos are getting 35 percent off the price of the ones already ordered. He's so happy, he says, that he'd rather have the whole kimono collection than just the one that's already been cut. He then asks if he can see his atelier
