In this short scene, the narrator and his mother discuss the events of the previous day. The narrator says that he wants to leave his job as a landlady in order to become a master of the art of Korean speaking. He wants to be able to converse with his friend, Yon-Sung, when he runs into him on the street. He asks his mother to tell the boarders that he will be leaving in a year. The mother tells him that she will be gone for a year, and the narrator wants to forget everything. He wonders if the ghost army is actually a group of people who have been "sterified" by the ghost of Akatsukimi, and he wonders if they are just trying to "penetrate" him. The men in the group, however, are not trying to petrify him. They are trying to inform him about the new developments in the area, which they call the "Amamizu Station area redevelopment project" and the "createur mall" . He is impressed by Yon-sung's recognition of the beautiful woman, but he does not want to be "a dog" or "a cat" because "there are still cute ones and not cute ones" if he is finally home.
