About This Chapter
The chapter opens with Hiroshi's declaration that he's "emotionally withdrawing" from his relationship with Mina. He's worried that Mina is going to "want some" of his "false breasts" . But he doesn't know what to do. He tells himself that the girls he "dated" were "when I kissed them ," or "did more than kiss" , and that they never got to him. But now, he says, they've "got" false breasts . He asks Mina if she's afraid he won't come to see her, and she tells him to "swag the usual" if he refuses to drink. She also tells him that she keeps pestering him to finish his "background check" on Mina. Hiroshi tells her that Mina may be an "otaku," but she is still a girl, and he wonders how she would react to seeing her closet now. He looks at the dress Hiroshi has made for him, which is a "cocktail dress," and says that he wants to wear it, too. The dress is made of silk, and each pearl has been sewn onto a piece of fabric in a special way. He says that the dress is to fill the place with "beautiful dresses" from all over the world. He wonders how Mina would react if she saw the closet now, and wonders if she would want to wear the dress, too, if it were made of jellyfish-like fabric. He also says that Mina's mom told him that Mina would make him a jellyfish dress and sell it, and then they'd use the money to buy "amamizu kan," or, "a man's wife." He says he needs to explain to his dad that there is no such thing as a husband-wife relationship.
