"bright stars" is a short scene in which the main character, Miss Betsey Green, asks her husband, Mr. Lorry, how long he's been sleeping. He replies that he has been sleeping for three minutes. He then asks her why she doesn't sleep, and she says that she's just pretending to sleep. She then asks him why he hasn't told her that he'd planned to let off fireworks for New Year's Eve. He tells her that she should have told him about it, and that he should have given her a present for the new year: a special fireworks display for her. He also tells her about the wedding that's going to take place the next day, and he asks her to go. She tells him that she can't go because she has to go to the wedding, but he tells her not to worry, since he'll be back in the evening. She also tells him about the rumors that he and leo have been living together, and asks him to marry her.
