In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, Miss Green. Miss Green is a young woman who has just returned from China, where she has been working as a model for a magazine. She is very upset to learn that the company she works for has given up its cooperation with her. She asks Miss Green why she is so upset, and Miss Green tells her that she has too many questions for Miss Green to answer. She also tells Miss Green that Miss Green has already signed a contract with another company to shoot a magazine with her and another woman, which Miss Green does not approve of. She then asks Miss Greene if she can sign the contract now, since Miss Green offended her by not agreeing to the shoot with her boyfriend, Scott, who is her signed artist. Miss Greene says that the contract has already been signed, and that it is too late for her to help her. When Miss Green asks why Scott did not agree to the shot with the other woman, she says that Scott himself agreed to it, and he was caught by amanda. She says that she is happy to see that Scott is jealous of her, and asks him to let her go. She tells him that she and Scott were neighbors when they were young, and she and her mother were friends, but that they have not spoken to each other since. When she returned home, she called her mother, and they met. She wants to take Scott away from her, she tells him.
