About This Chapter
Emily tells her sister that someone has pretended to be her at the press conference. She tells her that she knows who did it, and that they'll just push the boat ahead with the current. Emily then welcomes Miss Green, one of the founders of the theater, to the stage. Miss Green tells Emily that the theater will be putting on two new plays, and she announces that the plays will be played by new actresses. She says that she's looking forward to the new plays because they used to use sherry in them, and Emily is insulted that she can't give her the chance to play the roles that she deserves. She then tells her brother-in-law, Mr. Brain, that Emily has been fired from her job because she doesn't do her job as the secretary for the theater. Brain fired Emily because she didn't pay enough attention to him, she says, and because she ignored him when he asked her to do so.
