About This Chapter
The scene opens on the beach, where the young girl is caught in the act of taking a picture of a boy her age. She realizes that the boy is her friend, but she doesn't know how to respond to the boy's questions about her life. The girl is worried that he'll think she's trying to seduce him. She's also worried that if the boy sees the picture, he won't be able to believe that she is the girl in the picture. She decides that she'll run away from the school and find a place to live. The boy asks her what high school she plans on going to, and she tells him that it's "a pretty good school" . He also asks her about her plans for the summer, and the girl says that she plans to hang out with him over the summer at the seaside school that has supplementary classes. She also tells the boy that summer break is coming up, and he's supposed to go back to school the next day. He asks her if she was at school lately, and her response is that she was. He then asks her why she was into the music and why she'd be into it. She says that the music reminds her of the color of the sea, and that she wants to be near the girl.
