About This Chapter
In this short scene, the young woman, who is introduced as Natsume Mochizuki, expresses her worries about her new life in the resort town of Niseko, Japan. She wonders what will happen to her, her family, and her friends in the new city, and she wonders if she will be able to live her life as she wants. She is also worried about her relationship with her father, who lives with her in the town of Minato, and about the fact that she has been followed by some of the other girls in Niseko, including the teacher, Hasegawa Sangawa, who has expelled her from the school because of her disobedience to the teacher's orders. The girl wonders why she is so upset, and the girl tells her that the teacher has put prayer beads on her as a memento from her grand mother, and that the beads are a sign of her love for her father. She tells the girl that she should take the beads in exchange for her feelings, but the girl refuses, saying that she stopped wearing them a year ago, and it gave her the confidence to "be near you."
