The next day at the festival, kou runs off to find Natsume. She's nowhere to be found, and he can't figure out where she's been. Worried that he's going to be arrested, he curses kou and calls him a "pig" and a "damn pig" . He's also worried that if he survives, he'll be "ruined" by the "arrogant littles" like him.
