Back at school, a student named Arata asks to be excused from class so that he can join the rugby club. Arata is bummed that he's not allowed to join the club because he doesn't want to leave his job as a weed-puller. He asks Arata if there's anything he wants to do, and Arata tells him that he used to be a guitar player and a driver's license holder. He also tells Arata that his mom is a single mother who works late at night, so he might be able to take her to the store to buy her some food. The next morning, Arata wakes up to find his mom washing dishes and packing his lunch box with food for the club.
