About This Chapter
The next morning, the guys are getting ready for the next day's game, and the first thing Alek says is that he's bummed out that he hasn't fought yet. He's worried that if they lose, he won't be able to train anymore. He tells them that he was going to be the head coach of the school's gardening business when he graduated from high school, but his dad told him that he needed to stay in the hospital for two days before he could take over. Alek says he doesn't want anyone to think that he has to tell anyone about his dad's condition, because he didn't realize that he had to. He says that he and the other guys worked their asses off in their own way, and that they figured out their own training regimen. They talked until late at night, and they even did some research on how to train properly. When it was time to retire, Alek says, he wanted to say that maybe they weren't as talented as they thought they were, but that these three years were really worth it. Then, he says, kom sanori showed up, and everything changed. They got to try, for real, for three whole years when he was their age, and Alek had no idea how good he was doing. He asks the guys if they'd like to check out the new school, and he says that they'll probably forget about it once they move away. They haven't yet fought, he tells them. He wants to know if he can take a fight, but he says he'd have to break a leg to do it. He apologizes for being late, and says that tomorrow he'll be back.
