About This Chapter
The narrator explains that he first met Duvall when he was studying abroad at a medical school in reptile. The government of mammalia was worried that the school was too far away from the rest of the world, so they offered support to students to study there. The narrator was admitted to the medical school because he was a good student and because he had a good reputation. However, he was surprised to find that she was harsh to the students and threw them away easily. He was worried about this when he heard that he was close to her. The first lieutenant tells the narrator that he has been promoted to a non-commissioned officer. He asks the narrator why he is holding the camera on his neck. He says that he is carrying a fine camera and that the situation is getting out of hand. He complains that he cannot give a compensation for the loss of the last time he used the camera, but the narrator points out that before becoming a soldier, the narrator is a citizen of the country and should not be blamed for the situation.
