About This Chapter
It's been three days since the battle ended, and the men are still trying to build a fence around the front lines. Corporal Dougie has been talking behind the back of the men, and he's bleeding badly. He's going to have his wound checked out right away, he says, because he thinks it's time to get it checked out. He doesn't want to wait around for someone to come and check him out, so he says he'll just go home and explain why he needs to go to the emergency room right away. He also says that the sergeant told him that Red had gone to a reptile hospital to get checked out, and that's why she's not feeling well. He thinks that the first lieutenant allowed her to borrow her bike so she could go there, but then he wonders why Red acts like such a spoiled child. He says that Red is desperate to meet someone in the hospital, so she'd rather be there than back at the front, where she can get help from her back home.
