About This Chapter
Back at the police station, Mina explains that she's going to the demonstrations to try to get rid of devils in the city. She thinks she'd do a good job of it, but then she realizes that she used to live with Sawazaki, and that she might not have been able to stand up to him if she hadn't left him. She's shocked to find out that she has been assigned to the public security section of the East Bay, which means she'll have to deal with the same guys who used to hang out with her when she was a girl. Mina says she doesn't know why they're hanging out together now, but she thinks it's because they used to be friends. She also realizes that if she had stayed, she wouldn't have had the opportunity to stand on her own two feet, and she would have been too dependent on Sawadazaki for that. Mina is shocked to learn that they've been talking about getting chummy with each other. She says she never even thought about it, because they were always together. Mina realizes that even if she and Sawada didn't get along, they'd still have sex, too, because she was always with him. Mina thinks that's a good thing, because it means they'll be able to talk to each other more easily, and it would be safer for them to do so. Mina also mentions that the government has appointed a new interim prime minister, which is a good sign, since it means the government won't need to rely on the devils to keep them under control. Mina decides to use Mina as a mirror, and then she can figure out what's really going on.
