The chapter opens with Tousle talking to Anzai about their mutual friendship. Anzai says that he has always hated hugging his mother, but that they are like family. He asks where his father is, and Anzai tells him that they have not seen him. He says that the conference room where they had shown them earlier did not have a security card, and that they had come all the way to the lab grounds. He tells Anzai that he realized when he went to the cafeteria that it was not hanging around his neck, but a group of men from the police department. He apologizes for scaring him, saying that he was happy when he said that he would be his friend, and for a moment he thought they could be friends. They had an action policy, which says that if they do not do something, they will not know until they try again. He wants to know where they are going, and he asks if they can try to save him from a serial killer. He explains that he came to investigate a case, and the only one who has been transno in a sense is his sire, the devil. Everyone in the room is a devil, he says.
