If I see you lying in bed with someone else, would I still trust you? That's the question we're asked in this chapter's epigraph. It's a question that we've heard before, but we haven't yet seen in this novel. We're not sure if it's true or not, but if it is, we'll have to wait until the next chapter to find out. The epigraph is from a conversation between Ling and Yon in which the two talk about how they've just gotten married. Ling asks Yon if he still trusts him, and Yon replies that he does, but he's not sure how long he'll stay with her father. Yon tells Ling that his father doesn't like being alone, and that he'd rather live with her than with someone who's going to be around for a while. Ling tells Yon that she'll pick him up and take him back to her father's house.
