In this chapter, we are introduced to the protagonist's mother, who tells us that her son, jinchen , has finally found a wife "like a normal person" . We learn that jinchen is a genius, who skipped school at an early age and went on to study at prestigious universities. His mother, however, is not so happy about this news. She tells her son that he should find a girlfriend for his mother to play with. She also tells him that she wants him to get a girlfriend, because she wants her son to marry her daughter-in law. After the meal, she tells him to go get some tea for them.
