The scene opens in the hotel room, where Ling and Ling's servant, Selia, are waiting for Ling to return. Ling tells Selia that he is going to have sex-change surgery within a month, and that he will disinfect his hand after the operation. Selia tells Ling that he has been torturing him for an hour, and he is waiting for him all along. Ling asks Selia if she feels aggrieved, and Selia replies that she does. Ling invites Selia for dinner, and then he goes off to get the car to take him back to the hotel. Ling is furious that Selia knows they are in the room, because he had planned to get her laid and then humiliate her. He wanted her to lose her reputation, and suffer a "mental breakdown" . Ling blames Selia's behavior on the fact that she has been "brainwashed" into believing that she is in love with Ling.
