Ming's mother, who is also in the store, tells Ming that she wants Ming to spend even more money. Ming says that he already has enough money to last him a lifetime, so he won't need to spend any more. Ming asks Ming to tell him how he met his current suitor, and Ming replies that he needs to keep him "tightly held" in order for him to "want more" from him. Ming is confused by this comment and wonders if Ming is telling Ming to "manipulate" his suitor's feelings for her.
