He says that the fat man is stupid, because he didn't even know where he hid the pearl. This is hilarious to the narrator, who thinks that the girl must be calling them stupid. He calls them idiots, and says that she's attractive, so they should stay back and let her have some fun. He cuts the rope to get out of the fight, but the fight isn't going to go his way.
