About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that this story is "purely fictitious" and that no resemblances are made between the events of the story and real people or places. In fact, the narrator says, "I know what you are like" . The narrator says that he is going to take the narrator to school to make sure that his injury is healed. He asks the narrator if he is taking him to school as his guardian, and the narrator tells him that it is impossible, since he looks too young to be his guardian. He also tells the narrator that he has to prevent other girls from getting romantic feelings for her. He says that if he went to school like his boyfriend, all of the girls at the school would kill him. He explains that his family is urging him to get married so that he can help them deal with their problems. In return, he promises to grant the narrator three wishes. First, he wants to know if the girl he is with is his girlfriend; second, if she is his wife; and third, if her picture is still on her desk. He wants to check to see if she still has a lover.
