About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that it's the day of Motoya's birthday, and that he's been searching for something to give to his sister. He finds a bunch of presents, but none of them are anything he'd really want. He's bummed out that he can't buy his sister a present, but he doesn't want her to go to college, so he tells her to chill out. He also tells her that she's still a student, so she shouldn't be worried about going to college. Yay! The narrator is all, "I don't care what material things you give me, I just want to know that you're happy and healthy and happy to be home." Yay! She's so happy, in fact, that she gives him a bouquet of flowers as a birthday present. The narrator says that he already has some of his own, too, and he asks her if she'd like to give him some of her own. She says yes, and the narrator invites her to join him for dinner.
