About This Chapter
Back at the shop, Chan introduces himself to his sister, who is waiting for him. He tells her to drop off all of her stuff and then he and his sister start talking about karate. He says that he used to live in the shop for three years and that it is not a home for him anymore. He asks his sister if she would like to step aside and help him with something. She says she would, and he says he is sorry both of them. She tells him that he is so close to her that she will strain her eyes. She asks him if he watched any of the karate tournaments that he has been to. He replies that he did not, because he was too old to do it. She then asks him what the deal is with the two of them and he tells her that they are former street punks and that he smokes in an ashtray in front of the shop. She wonders if he is a "former street punk too" and says he seems to really care about her and her sister. She adds that her high school classmates are the same size as those in the elementary school and that the man who is behind the shop is "a female primate . . plain type ." She says that she hears his father is a policeman, but that it does not seem like there is any mother around her family. She also says that her family is called a "short cut" and that this man is "one of those . a villain ."
