About This Chapter
In this short scene, Hiro and Klin are playing cards in the middle of the night. Klin tries to get Hiro to stop playing so he can talk to him alone, but Hiro refuses to listen. He tells him that he's welcome to play with him any time he wants, but that he has to memorize the cards first. He explains that there are seven cards in each of the seven characters, and that they are called "one character for you," "ma shima," "six character cards," "ohyama cards," and "the sixth character, which is "made al," or "the pale moonlight" . The sixth character is the most important part of the game, because it's when you know what to do with the cards you've got. The first five characters are the same, and the next five are different, so you have to guess which one is going to be the right one. The next card is the wrong one, and so on, until Hiro realizes that the kid with glasses is probably not a very good player.
