About This Chapter
In this chapter, we're introduced to a new character, the "record keeper" . He's the one who keeps the records of all the moves made by the other players in the tournament. We learn that he's been catching up to the master, who's gotten caught up in the shuffle. The master has lost all his cards and is in a bad position. He can't fight, he says, because cards have become "one character cards" , meaning they've all been copied and pasted together into a single piece of paper. This means that the master has no chance of winning the tournament, even if he does manage to get one of his cards back. The record keeper tells us to be careful, though, because the master will send cards that aren't really meant to be played. For example, he might send a card that doesn't say anything at all, which means that it's just a noise in the middle of the game. This is especially true for the record keeper, who has to memorize the card every time he reads it. He also warns us to keep an eye on the cards sent by the master during the endgame, since he'll be sending cards that are likely to not say anything. The queen match is also nearing its end, and the master's got five cards left . The match is over, but the master still has a chance to get back at the queen.
