Hiroshi tsuboguchi, the top player in the school's chess team, is in the semi-finals of the national tournament. He's lost to a guy who's been away from school for a year and a half, but he's still the best player in his class. Hiroshi and his friend Arata discuss how they're going to go back to school together. Arata says he'll give her his cell phone number so she can call him if she needs anything. They're not going to get into a romantic relationship, they say, because the test covers don't cover the subject matter of the love poem they wrote for each other . The two of them decide to say goodbye to each other in the train station.
