Panlos and Luke Ling are in the middle of an intense battle. Panlos tries to convince Luke to let go of the fight, but Luke refuses to listen to him. He tells Panlos that he has to kill Madame Bovary to protect her, and that he will not be able to do so if he does not die. He also warns Panlos not to worry about the guy who wants to use his powers to gain his own immortality.
