In this short scene, we learn that Panlos had planned to release Lance if he had known that the kid had already escaped. Panlos is now convinced that Lance's escape was a bad idea. He tells Lance that if Lance had not escaped, his aunt would have been dead by now. Lance admits that he knew this, but says that he is the one who is putting his aunt in danger. He asks Panlos if he thinks brains are all that's lacking in a villain.
