In this chapter, the Underground Man interrogates a young man named Panlos. Panlos is just a teenager. The Underground Man tells Panlos that he had a nightmare and that killing him would not be fun. He asks Panlos if he can protect him if he tells the truth. The young man says that it would be no fun killing Panlos anyway. He begs Panlos to tell him the name of the man who killed him
