The narrator thanks the goddess for the soup that helped him and his brother recover from the epidemic. He thanks her for saving his younger brother, who has been infected with the disease. He tells the grand tutor that he'll eat after feeding his brother. He also tells the narrator that he needs to calm down first and then kill two birds and tu xie with one stone. He grills a naan to eat alone outside the tent. He wants to discuss his plan with the tutor. He explains that he won't go after the hun's people at the banquet three days later. He needs the tutor's help to do this. The tutor says that he can just watch and help him, but he needs nanping to be the one who gets rid of the hidden danger. He asks the tutor to eat the naan himself, but the tutor refuses to do so, saying that he still has to deliver the food.
