In the midst of his soliloquy, Ching-ying tries to calm down his master, who has been acting like a father to him. He tries to get him to stop talking about the plot and to stop acting like he's a teacher and a father, but the master refuses to listen to him, saying that he tried so hard not to get involved in the plot in the first place, and now he wants to go back to the beginning. He grabs his puppy, and the puppy is transformed into a wolf, and he cries out that he can't stand the men in the room anymore, and that they're different than the men he used to love. He begs his master not to be mad at him, but to let him do what he wants with the puppy. He says that he'll tie himself up, and then he says that Ching--ying is strong enough to fight against him, and so he'd better sacrifice himself for the sake of his own soul.
