In the courtyard of Su Su's house, the General is sweating profusely because he has just received a gift from the King of the Kingdom of China. The General tells him to prepare a jade hairpin as a gift for his sister. He tells the General that the embroidery on the dress is "fine and delicate" and that the kingdom of China can ensure peace and stability along the border with the neighboring kingdom of Japan. Su Su tells him that she has recently made a flower cake, and the General wants to eat it, but he wants to wait for her to finish the cake. He then tells Su Su that the General has heard about the civil war in the neighboring country of China and that he will probably return soon. He asks the General why all his clothes are in tatters after he entered the house to be a tutor and friend to the kids. The clothes were torn daily by the voracious book fans, who were chasing after the General and blocking his way. He wants to buy a batch of clothes from the streets.
