This chapter opens with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter, in which Lin learns that he has fallen in love with Miss Su. The flashback reveals that Lin's love for Miss Su has led to a series of unfortunate events. The first time, Lin was forced to cut his hair into pieces; the second time, he accidentally spilled a secret medicine that caused his father to misinterpret that Lin was playing "fivesome." Lin presents Miss Su with a pair of charms, which he invites the world's most famous jewelry stores to create for her. Lin explains that he did not give Nan Ping the "best of the documents" in order to reform the government's official documents, but he hopes that both of them will live a long and happy life
