This chapter opens with a conversation between the tutor and the princess of the army phoenix. The tutor asks the princess why she suddenly came to his tent. The princess tells the tutor that she met a girl called "qing jinger" who had been expelled from her village. The girl told her that she and her family were in her village, but that they had left before she got there. She was allowed to come to the palace of the emperor's army because the emperor had sent her there to fight with the ye family against the Huns. This is a "blessing or a curse". The tutor tells the princess that he is glad that she came back alive. He tells her that he pushed her to death, but as an enemy, he does not regret that he did so. He says that he will respect the princess no matter what she does. He feels that he must be his destiny, and that he has not been close to the princess like this in a long time
