In this short scene, Miyu complains to Mr. Manette that she is being carried around by her lover. Miyu says that he has already discussed the matter with the Prime Minister, and that he will take responsibility for Miyu and the child since he is so reluctant to marry Miyu. He also says that Miyu has already lost the baby. He tells Miyu that he caught a cold and weakened his body, leading to the death of the child. He then tells her that she should dump all of her blames on Miyu for the last few days. She tells him that he is too naive to be concerned about her life choices. She says that after the marriage Miyu can leave the home for one year and have fun on his own without Miyu's knowledge. She adds that she does not need Miyu to be worried about her choices. He says that their engagement can stay the same but they need to change their marriage so that they can have more fun on their own. He adds that after they get married, they will be able to have mistresses as many as they like outside. He asks her if she is sad at all, and she replies that it is no use crying because the baby has already died. She then asks him if he has just gone overboard with his love for her. He replies that the family has just had a big shock and many deaths, and Miyu wonders if she just went overboard with her prank.
