In this chapter, we are introduced to the protagonist, Miss Su. She is a beautiful young woman who has fallen in love with her brother, the handsome First Son of the General's House. Miss Su's love for her brother is so great that she cannot bear to let him go. She tells him that if he cannot lose weight, he should come to her and she will take care of him. She promises him that she will do anything to make him love her, including wearing makeup and getting up at night to do "midnight skincare" . She also promises to give him a "big surprise" when he comes to visit her the next day. This is the first time Miss Su has heard of the First Son's plan to marry her.
