The two panda-spirits meet again in the panda cave, where they first fell in love. They've been in love for a thousand years, and they're now back together. The narrator tells us that this is the first time the two have met in a real panda cave. It turns out that the real panda, yifeng, has some "ague memories" of what happened on the night that he was taken over by his father, zhongshan. Aww, that's kind of a bummer. Panda-spirit-Liu tells him to turn himself into a panda so that he can speak to him privately. He's got a gift for xi: a giant stuffed panda! Panda-Spirit-Liu says goodbye to xi and tells him that he's going back to heaven. He also says that he and xi will never see each other again.
