In this chapter, we learn that the female panda has been taken care of by her father, who has been living with her mother in a rented house in Hong Kong for the past eighteen years. She is now a young orphan, and she has been orphaned by her mother's death. She has been brought up to be obedient and to be gentle with the animals, but she has not yet learned how to properly care for her father.
