The narrator is talking to his big sister, who is in the middle of a festival. She's looking at an actor who's wearing makeup. The narrator can't figure out what's wrong with him. He's got a problem: he forgot to put away the makeup he's been wearing all day. He wants her to give him the makeup back so he can try it out and see what it does to his soul. He doesn't want to see the misery of other people's eyes, he wants to see it on his own face. So he swallows the drop of makeup and tries to enjoy the look of his sister's face. He says that seeing her face makes him very happy, and that's why he was so upset. He realizes that he has lost a lot of his soul, and he wants his sister to see that. He tells her that he'll have fun with her the next time they see each other. He explains that he was too careless with the makeup and that someone came to look at it to see if it was good for him. The drop can be removed from the body, he says, and the drop will be excreted from the system. That's awful, the narrator says. Women have to be very hard on themselves to be famous. A beautiful girl wouldn't do that. She would do it because she'd be hard on herself for her fame. She says that a beautiful girl who did it would be shocked. She explains that women have to have a hard time on themselves because they're supposed to be hard for fame. What's the deal with that
