In this short scene, we learn that the two young lovers have come to the ancient world on the first day of June, which is the date of the transformation into a human being. The young lovers are overjoyed to be reunited with their "ancient" friends, but they are also disappointed to learn that they have not been able to transform into the "fashionable" people they imagined they would be. They must return to the "modern" world, they are told, or else they will not be able to "transform as well" as they have. The two young men, however, are determined to make the best of their time in the new world.
