The next morning, Amitabha tells the monk that the surgery went well, but he's not happy about it. He wants to kill the bastard. The monk tells him to calm down. He's the one who's at fault, he says, because the demon looked at him strangely and didn't respond to his attack. It's better to help the soul transcend than to kill it. The man asks if he can help him transcend, and the monk says that's what he taught him to do. He then asks if they should just cremate the man, or if they need to pretend to be incompetent. He says that the monk taught him that if he tells the demon that he has mastered the Buddhist mantra, he'll be able to disguise himself as the monk. This is a good way to keep the monk with them, and they head east.
