Everyone is gone, but the men are still working overtime. They've already eaten a sumptuous meal. Why are they going to so lengths to help "doggy wang" ? They don't understand why the foreman wouldn't care about him, and why they're so desperate to help him. They can't be civil once he's dead, they say, and they'll all be safe if they talk in a civil way. They all know that the mine has collapsed, and the men have no choice but to try to save the men.
