The chapter opens with a description of the "big door" that opens into the future. The narrator tells us that this door is the door to "new humanity" . He says that he doesn't know what's going on, but he's sure that the other side has opened the door. He's not sure if they're going to take off their protective suits and go back to the Holodeck or not. He coughs a little bit and then falls asleep. He wakes up to find that he'd been stuck in the Holo-deck for a while. He wonders where his friends are, and when he wakes up, he can't find them.
