The chapter opens with a description of the extinction of humanity as written by the monster in his journal. The chapter ends with a discussion of the fate of the humans who live on this new planet. The monster says that he is afraid that the humans will go extinct in the coming apocalypse. He says that they must find a way to communicate with the rest of the world so that they will believe that they are the only ones on the new planet who are not monsters. He tells the story of how he and his crewmates tried to gather people to fight against the monster, but they were unable to do so. Now, he says, they must use the sound of the soundwave to lure the monsters back to the earth. He also tells the group that they have found the diary in the cave. He asks the others to listen to him, as he has something important to tell them. He wants them to tell the captain if they have anything to say. He then asks them to look for clues in the diary. He explains that he has a daring theory, but he cannot tell everyone yet.
