The narrator asks zhong if he went crazy, and zhong says that he slept so long that he was hallucinating the silent box. Since then, the narrator has had strange nightmares, and he has even tried to kill himself. He meets an old woman who tells him that he can see the box behind him. The old woman tells him to give the box to someone who can see it, and the narrator says he doesn't want to give it to anyone, because he only knows that it was called "silent box" and that he will be able to get rid of the torture. He tells the old woman that he saw the box in class, but that he couldn't really see it clearly. He says that the man who came to him after school, whom he calls "you jie," was the first person to give him the box. The narrator tells zhong that the box is probably with him right now.
