When the train arrives at the station, the narrator asks the driver if he has heard of the foggy island. The driver tells him that he has not heard of it and that it is too dangerous for him to go there. The narrator asks if his sister really exists and the driver replies that she does not. He tells her that he can bring her there, but that he does not have enough money to do so. He then asks her why she came back and why she has come back. She answers that she did not come back because of the fog. She then asks him why he stopped the ship. He answers that he did not say anything.
